Jimmy's iO Welcome Party
I started at DMC two months ago and it has been a very busy two months. Since joining DMC I’ve been focused on one large project, but the project is divided up into many distinct sections and I have been involved in nearly every one the sections. I have been creating user interfaces, the control logic, hardware addressing, and what seems like a million other things. I enjoy being busy and DMC has ... [Read the rest of this blog...]
Thingomatic 3D Printer
Imagine being able to create real-life, three-dimensional objects just as easily as we print documents from Microsoft Word. Need a new case for your phone? Don’t buy one, just print it. Do you want a keychain customized with your company’s logo? Just print it. Pretty cool, huh? It was this cool factor that drew Boris, Ryan, and me to the idea of making a 3D printer. During... [Read the rest of this blog...]
Media Signage Streaming Content Coming to an Office Near You
"A chicken in every pot and a display on every wall." -Herbert Hoover President Hoover was a prescient and oft-misquoted man. Fortunately for us, DMC has realized his vision of liquid crystal abundance. DMC's new office is full of displays. Displays on desks, displays on walls, and displays in pockets. With this embarrassment of riches comes great responsibility. A responsibility t... [Read the rest of this blog...]
DMC FedEx Day Redux
After the success of DMC's first FedEx Day earlier this year, we were excited to hold our second edition a few weeks ago. A FedEx Day is reserved for everyone to devote an entire day working on a company improvement project that personally inspires them. It's called a FedEx Day because the person or team must deliver something the next day, although there is some upfront prep t... DMC's Oktoberfest Open House
On October 20th we hosted an open house at DMC's new office for our first ever Oktoberfest.  Since I've heard that a picture can be worth 0b1111101000 words, I figured I'd save most of my prose and let the pictures below do the talking. Also, there's a really exciting video at the bottom if you want to just skip to that.   *Click an image to enlarge   Anjali at the welcome tab... [Read the rest of this blog...]
As many of you may know, we used last week’s Oktoberfest party as an unofficial house warming party for our new office space. In addition to having a great turnout despite uncooperative weather, the Kinect Demo team from FedEx Day 2010 put in some extra hours to get our new display case setup to welcome guests. If you haven’t seen the display case, an early video is available here,... Ziplining and Customer Service
A few times each year DMC holds an all-day company meeting. It's a chance for all of our team members to discuss our goals and have some fun together. Past meetings have taken us anywhere from Chicago's waterfront, to an improv session, to the Melrose Park Grand Prix. For our most recent all-day company we chartered a bus and took the entire to the treetop canopies of Wisconsin. On the trip... [Read the rest of this blog...]

NIWeek Recap & Limericks
Like any university, LabVIEW U wasn't just about courses.  Part of the joy of attending NIWeek was experiencing Austin with my coworkers and hanging out with other engineers. We had the good luck of staying right by the Congress Avenue Bridge.  This bridge appears misleadingly mundane until exactly sundown when millions of bats begin streaming from its concrete underbelly.... DMC's Quinceañera
About a year ago, I wrote a blog on DMC’s fourteenth anniversary, looking back on our first 14 years. Now, DMC has reached its fifteenth year, and at this time of our quinceañera, so to speak, I wanted to again reflect on where we've been. Since I can’t rewrite my blog from last year, I figured I would mix it up a bit and talk about some of the fun things that DMC has done over the last year or s... [Read the rest of this blog...]
Technical Sessions: LabVIEW U
When I talk with other graphical designers and hardware gurus here in Austin and mention that this is my first NIWeek, their eyes light up. “I still remember my first NIWeek! How do you like it?” they ask. Across the board our first impressions match: there are just so many people here, from all corners of the world, who are involved with LabVIEW! That may sound obvious and trivial, but really it’... [Read the rest of this blog...]

DMC Helps Connect the Siemens User Community with an Interactive New Event
What was the Siemens Connect Event? The Siemens Connect Event was an hour-long networking event held at the 2011 Siemens Automation Summit. Likened to "speed networking," the Connect Event was initiated as a fun and interactive way for Siemens Solution Partners and users to connect on a personal rather than business level. Attendees participated in "power" meetings which were facilitated by compl... [Read the rest of this blog...]
Siemens PLCS, Networking, and More--DMC at the SITEC 2011 Conference

SITEC is Siemens’ technical conference where solution partners like DMC, distributors, and internal Siemens staff learn about the latest Siemens software and hardware technology solutions. Team DMC: Corporate Challenge 2011
It was a cool November evening for this year's Turkey TrotJPMorgan Chase & Co. Corporate Challenge, a 3.5 mile race in downtown Chicago.... unfortunately it was the 26th of May but with temperatures in the 40s & a strong damp wind it definitely felt like a late fall evening. The one benefit of the cool weather was that it was much better running weather than it was for the... [Read the rest of this blog...]

Farewell Kingsbury

This past Friday (April 29th), we started and......several hours later....finished our move from 1333 Kingsbury to 2222 Elson.  It was pretty crazy as we (and a team of movers) dismantled the place and hauled everything to the new building.  I took a video of the aftermath.
