DMC Cares Guerrilla Giving Initiative

A few times a year, DMC holds an All Day Company Meeting (ADCM) in each of our offices. These offsite meetings are an opportunity for all employees in that office to get together, discuss goals, and have some fun. Our past ADCMs have provided us unique experiences like ziplining in Wisconsin, ice skating, and even a Ferris Bueller-style day in Chicago. This ADCM focused on a few different topics. The day started with small group discussions on our core values and customer service fundame...

Houston YOE 2016: Everything is Bigger in Texas

This spring, DMC held our first Yearly Office Event (YOE) in Houston. This was a great way for the Houston office to show employees from other offices a good time down south. Due to the careful planning and fun agenda assembled by DMC Houston, their visitors felt as if they were on a private Texas tour! The Rodeo The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was an amazing start to our trip. Most of us had never been to a rodeo before, so it was a cool experience. We got to see men wrestle bull...

DMC Cooks Up Communication at Our All Day Company Meeting

For our recent All Day Company Meeting (ADCM), DMC headed over to Cooking Fools in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood. It's fun day of formulating goals, brainstorming, and teambuilding that has taken us to places like Wrigley Field, laser tag, and on a Ferris Bueller-style tour of Chicago in the past. We started off the morning with breakfast and a few brief presentations on effective sales communication. Then it was time for us to take on the challenge and brainstorm our own sal...

TIFWorks Helps DMC Engineers Cultivate Technical and Soft Skills

Earlier this year DMC was awarded funding from the City of Chicago’s TIFWorks Program. TIFWorks is a government program that “stimulates business success by funding workforce-training costs for companies located in tax increment financing (TIF) districts.” The program awards grants to small companies in the City of Chicago for training purposes and is one of the few city funded initiatives to support the training of incumbent employees. Due to the outstanding level of support D...

On Top of the Game at DMC Chicago's ADCM

DMC Chicago’s All Day Company Meeting (or ADCM for short) was all set for Thursday, August 18th. The theme of the day was Customer Service Excellence. The schedule, which Frank and I had spent the past week meticulously putting together, was ambitious. We figured that an hour presentation, followed by two hours of brainstorming, lunch, then an outdoor ropes course would not only be an awesome team-building, camaraderie fostering, memory-making opportunity, but would also generate some grea...

DMC's 2013 Holiday Party

85 Guests 55 Filets of Beef 20 Seared Salmon Fillets 125 Specialty Martinis 81 Glasses of Maker’s 46 1 Bud Light (Really?) That, my friends, is how DMC rolls. As the newest member of DMC’s Party Planning Committee (PPC) I had an inside look at the planning process behind DMC’s legendary company parties. With past soirees including an Odyssey Cruise and a bowling competition at Lucky Strike, it became apparent that few...

DMC's Night of Magic

DMC's Night of Magic

Engineers are stereotypically a skeptical bunch, and DMC prides itself on a talent pool consisting of grads from some of the best engineering programs in the country. This was the rather dubious crowd that third generation magician Mr. Dennis Watkins faced on the evening of November 17. The occasion? A triple-threat welcome party for Otto, Shannon, and Stephanie.   DMC’s Night of Magic began at the historic Palmer House Hotel where icons such as Mark Twain, Oscar Wilde, Jud...

Improv and Wrigley Rooftop Baseball

Working for DMC means that a few times every year you get to participate in an all-day company meeting. These meetings take place offsite and they give everyone a chance to have a great time together while taking part in brainstorming sessions and fun team building exercises. After hearing about and seeing photos from previous ADCMs that involved a tour of Chicago and ziplining, I was beyond excited to experience my first one at Murphy’s Rooftop in Wrigelyville. The whole DMC crew met u...
