DMC Presented at Beckhoff IoT Seminar

DMC Presented at Beckhoff IoT Seminar

DMC, a member of the Beckhoff Integrator Network (rebranded the Beckhoff Integrator Group in 2020), led two presentations at Beckhoff's recent IoT Seminar. The event was held at Beckhoff's Chicago Field Office on March 16, 2018. The educational seminar focused on the world of IoT and its opportunities for industrial automation.

Program

The program began presentations from Beckhoff breaking down IoT into its basic components and services. Attendees learned how to connect real-world applications, machines and data to the cloud using available solutions from Beckhoff, including standard industrial hardware and the TwinCAT IoT software suite.

DMC Presentations

Pete Rijks, a DMC Senior Application Developer, discussed different IoT platforms and services, including Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. His talk covered Azure IoT Hub and devices, and streaming analytics and data ingestion in Azure. Pete demonstrated a real-world example of data connection to an Azure IoT Hub, including set-up and configuration. He also went over several real world IoT cloud case studies of projects DMC has implemented. DMC Project Director, Matt Puskala, gave a brief overview of DMC and showcased a few case studies of DMC’s recent Beckhoff TwinCAT solutions for our clients.

Beckhoff and IoT

The Beckhoff TwinCAT platform excels at connectivity to devices, networks, databases, and the cloud, which makes them the leader in the industrial IoT space. In practice, cloud connectivity lends itself to applications collecting factory data to drive continuous improvements and OEE. For OEM companies, cloud connectivity can enable central collection of data and remote maintenance for regional, national, and global deployments in several locations.

Demos on display at the IoT seminar showed examples of collecting and sending real world signals and data to the cloud.

DMC is an official member of the Beckhoff Integrator Network, which recognizes our proficiency in implementing Beckhoff automation solutions and our close partnership with Beckhoff. We had a wonderful time sharing our Beckhoff project experience and IoT expertise at this year's seminar!
