Employee Spotlight: Lyndon Sapozhnik

My name is Lyndon Sapozhnik, and I'm a Systems Engineer here at DMC. I like that I come into work every day and I know that there's going to be a problem to solve, but I don't know what it is, and so every day is completely new to me. That helps keep things fresh.

So my favorite project at DMC so far has been an automated kiosk delivery system for packages. Being able to work on this project from the ground up has helped me learn a lot, and it's just a lot of fun to see something go from being an idea to being a fully-fleshed project, being used out in the real world in just the span of months.

I can't say that I have a favorite programming language, because it's like asking a parent to choose between all of their favorite children.

It was an engineering hobby that, honestly, pushed me into the line of work I'm in now, just working for microprocessors to make cool things like robots, and that continues today.

My biggest project that I'm working on right now is trying to make a sunrise alarm clock that's also internet enabled, so I can just set times from my phone, and then it will slowly ramp up a light, which is really useful in winter, when you're trying to wake up when there's no sun. It's just the most miserable experience I can imagine.

I generally try to spend as much time as possible outside. I love to hike. I love to skate along the lake. Park Avenue Beach is always fun in the summer, and just the wonderful Lake Shore path, which keeps going for miles and miles. You can bike on it or skate it or even walk it. It's wonderful.
