SharePoint 2010 Event Management and Workflow Training

Summary

DMC created an automated system to facilitate the planning of one of Zonta International's biggest events, The Governors Orientation, which takes place every two years. This was done while training their SharePoint champion on the creation of workflows.

Solution

Founded in 1919, Zonta International is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. With more than 31,000 members belonging to more than 1,200 Zonta Clubs in 65 countries and geographic areas, Zontians all over the world volunteer their time, talents and support to local and international service projects, as well as scholarship programs aimed at fulfilling Zonta's mission and objectives.

Zonta International had a recurring event that happened every two years but required a large amount of planning time. Multiple people were involved in the process including the corporate staff and external members of the organization. Zonta International had previously worked with DMC to create a SharePoint Foundation site for Document Management and an Internal Portal and realized that they could use SharePoint to facilitate this process. In order to streamline the process and reduce the amount of busy work, DMC worked side by side with Zonta’s SharePoint champion to create workflows that followed the procedure of planning this event.  As the workflows were created, DMC trained Zonta on how to maintain and create new workflows in the future.
