Shay graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a minor in robotics. In college, he participated in his school's Mars Rover Team for four years, leading it for two. He is from Mentone, Indiana, home of the world's largest concrete egg. In his free time, he works on home automation projects and tries to keep his bonsai trees alive.
