Shuffleboard at the Royal Palms

Shuffleboard at the Royal Palms

DMC puts together fun employee events almost every week. Between welcome parties for new employees and activity fund events (company-sponsored outings that employees plan), the social calendar at DMC is always full of events that are bound to create amazing memories.

As part of a recent activity fund event, the Chicago office headed down the street to The Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club in our own neighborhood, Bucktown. The enormous and stylish space is perfect for everything from small groups to large parties (like DMC)!

If you're wondering what it's like, check out these five fun things you can do while you're there!

Shuffleboard has been around for over 500 years. Henry VIII played it, people on cruises play it, but it's not just for kings and retirees. Local shuffleboard teams and scores cover the walls in The Royal Palms with names like Disco Biscuits and Shuffle Me Timbers.

There are plenty of shuffleboard courts to play on, but there is also a one-hour time-limit for each group. This is great because more can take turns.

The time-limit and handy buzzers they provide while you wait for your court make it possible to find other ways to entertain yourself and eliminate standing in line!

Food Trucks

There is a rotation of food trucks that park in the attached garage, so keep an eye on the calendar.

The Happy Lobster Truck was onsite during our visit, and the menu didn't disappoint. A favorite was The Happy Lobster Roll with chilled lobster on a perfectly toasted, buttery bun.

Delicious Drinks

The bar has tons of refreshing cocktails that feature bright citrus flavors. Make sure and ask your bartender about the fun shot!

Board Games

While you're waiting for your court, you can check out tons of games. Tables and benches fill the room. There's no standing around waiting for your turn or being stuck in the middle of a crowd trying to hear your friends!

Group Photos

Memory is inherently faulty, so take a picture at the photo booth!

There are plenty of props including enough lei necklaces to cover an entire person.
