DMC Denver Experiences the Avalanche

DMC Denver Experiences the Avalanche

Don’t worry. When I say Avalanche, I mean the Colorado Avalanche hockey team, not a snow slide. Our hockey team took on the Winnipeg Jets, and the game was spectacular. A group of us attended together using DMC Denver's activity fund, a monthly fund that employees can access to plan fun events to hang out and bond.  After a slow start to the game, Colorado scored two goals in the 2nd period only to have Winnipeg tie up the game in the 3rd period and send the game to overtime. ...

DMC New York and the Mysterious Ticking Noise

Every month, a DMC office makes their own video to share updates with everyone at DMC. In January, DMC New York took our turn.  We filled everyone in on all of the fun we've been having at events like our Yearly Office Event, DMC New York YOE - Eating Our Way Through NYC, and we told everyone all about how we are bursting at the seams with new hires.  Meet our roster of New York office engineers in this fun video, and see if we can find out the source of the mysterious t...

DMC Goes Glam at the Last Speakeasy

DMCers in Chicago recently celebrated the 84th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition in style at the Chicago History Museum's annual Last Speakeasy. In what has become a DMC tradition, we donned our flapper dresses and fedoras and bundled up as best we could to take a step back in time for a few hours.  The museum pulls out all the stops, filling up every available space with entertainment, food, and intriguing exhibits. There was a visit from John Russick, CHM'...

Hawaiian Shirt Fridays

Hawaiian Shirt Fridays

I bought my first Hawaiian shirt (which is still in my rotation) in Orange Beach, Alabama during spring break of 2001. Since then, Hawaiian Shirt Friday has become a personal tradition of mine lasting the last dozen or so years. At my two previous jobs, it remained a personal tradition, and there was never any doubt in my mind that I would continue my tradition at DMC. However, while it took a while to start catching on, here at DMC it’s become more than just a personal tradition, and t...

DMC East Coast Offices Bond in Historic Boston

DMC's New York and Boston offices recently met up for a combined All Day Company Meeting (or ADCM). DMC's ADCMs are a chance for entire offices to get together a few times a year for team-building, sharing knowledge, and having lots of fun through a constantly changing agenda. We've tried out WhirlyBall, gone ice skating, and even taken a day off like Ferris Bueller to explore Chicago. We wanted to extend this Ferris Bueller experience to our other offices, starting...

Oktoberfest Fun Returns To DMC Chicago

Oktoberfest Fun Returns To DMC Chicago

DMC recently rang in fall with an Oktoberfest party at our Chicago office. Oktoberfest parties are somewhat of a tradition at DMC Chicago. DMC Boston took over a few years ago, and last year DMC Denver hosted with lots of brats and mountain views.  Oktoberfest is a great event for visiting with our clients, partners, and their friends in a casual setting at our office. At this year's event, we treated around 200 guests to delicious German-style food and beer and live polka ...

DMC New York YOE - Eating Our Way Through NYC

DMC New York recently gathered DMC employees from around the country for a weekend of fun in the Big Apple. We hosted our first Yearly Office Event (YOE), which is an annual event where each DMC office hosts from visitors from our other branches. It's a great opportunity to have fun together and hang out with co-workers who live in other cities. As we expand, it's also a great chance to get to know cities that we may not have been to before. Thursday - Relaxi Taxi The fun began ...

Cooking with Chicago Kids at Healthy Start

DMC Cares is an initiative that started at one of our All Day Company Meetings, or ADCMs. For this ADCM, we split into teams and given an envelope, contents unknown. I’ll never forget opening it to find $500 and instructions to make an impact in Chicago by "paying it forward." My team thought a lot about causes that were important to us and went all over the city to distribute the money to each cause. Hello Healthy Start In my personal life, I’ve volunteered w...

Summer Fun at DMC Boston

It's been a busy summer at DMC Boston. With a slew of fantastic new hires to bolster our forces, we've tried to live up to our reputation as DMC's most ridiculous office. From the exciting Yearly Office Event (YOE) where Boston hosted 30 DMCers in the White Mountains to the screening of the highly rated “Sharknado,” our office has had quite an adventurous summer. Camping (Indoor and Out) We headed to New Hampshire on an adventure in the great outdoors. We were ex...

DMC Chicago's Ferris Bueller-Style Day Off

One of DMC's favorite traditions involves taking a "day off" from our regular tasks. DMC Chicago recently held another ADCM, or All Day Company Meeting. This event allows us to spend time team building, having fun, and sharing knowledge through an ever-changing agenda of fun, learning, or volunteering. We've tried out everything from WhirlyBall to ice skating to boating in Lake Michigan. A few years ago, our ADCM was Ferris Bueller-themed for DMC's Day Off. We decid...

Welcoming New Employees with a Chicago Boat Tour

DMC has many traditions, and one is that every new employee gets their own welcome party. With eight people in my new hire group, we decided to combine some of our parties into a mega welcome party. John, Kirsten, and I thought the best way to see Chicago was on the Wendella Lake & River Tour, an architectural adventure which wraps around the Chicago River and then takes you through the lock onto Lake Michigan near Navy Pier for views of every part of downtown.  Delicious Eats ...

DMC Under the Big Top at Cirque du Soleil - Luzia

When you work for an ever-growing company, it can be hard to find time to get to know everyone you work with. In an effort to bring employees closer together (and to have fun), DMC supports employee-planned activities with a monthly activity fund for each of our six offices. Chicago is a great city for planning these events. After DMC saw Cirque du Soleil's KURIOS: Cabinet of Curiosities several years ago, we decided to go back to the cirque. Each show is unique a...
