As we head into the Fall Classic and the final chapters of the World Series matchup, we’re looking back at some of the memorable moments DMC teams shared at ballparks across the country this summer. From Wrigley Field in Chicago to Daikin Park in Houston, this summer’s baseball outings had no shortage of stolen bases, hot dogs, home runs, and DMC team bonding.
Take a trip around the bases to see how DMC teams across the country rooted for their home teams and find out which DMC cities still have a team in the running for the 2026 World Series.
A Late-Season Cubs’ Game at Wrigley
The Chicago Cubs have called Wrigley Field home for more than a century, and in late September, DMC’s Chicago team joined the generations of baseball fans who have filled the historic ballpark.
Game Recap
We settled into our seats on the bleachers beneath Wrigley’s iconic, hand-turned scoreboard to enjoy a late-season game between the Cubs and Miami Marlins. The weather was warm for a September evening and we had a great view of the outfield .
The game started quietly before picking up in the later innings. A Marlins’ home run put Miami ahead, but the Cubs battled back to tie the game, giving the DMC crowd plenty to cheer for. Miami ultimately pulled ahead for a 3-2 win, but the close score kept things exciting through the final innings.
The White Sox were also playing that evening in Kansas City, so a handful of DMC team members periodically checked Wrigley’s scoreboard to keep an eye on the American League score. While neither team won their respective games that evening, both Chicago teams eventually advanced to wildcard slots in the postseason.
Watching the Astros in Houston
The Houston team also made it out to a baseball game this summer, sitting in the stands at Daikin Park to cheer on the Astros against the Los Angeles Angels. The game took place in August, and several Houston office team members attended.
Ricardo Baquerizo, from DMC’s Houston office, recounted a few of his favorite moments from the game. “The Houton Astros got a homerun and there was actually fan interference when someone in the stands reached down to grab a ball that was still in play.”
The excitement didn’t stop there. Ethan Pecko made his MLB debut and struck out four Angels players, Christian Vázquez hit the solo home run to put the Astros ahead, and Astros manager Joe Espada was ejected from the game after challenging a hit-by-pitch call. And Houston’s DMC team was there to witness it all, including the final score of the game, which the Astros won 3-2.

“Being outside of work provides a more relaxing environment where we can connect on a more personal level. I also think that because Activity Fund events are planned by members of the DMC team, they’re activities we really enjoy and want to go to! It just contributes to the fun environment where everyone is having a good time.”
– Ricardo Baquerizo
Other DMC Offices with a Sports Culture
Chicago isn’t the only DMC office with a strong baseball culture. Across the country, DMC teams have spent plenty of afternoons and evenings cheering on their home teams and enjoying time together outside of work.
Our Detroit office, located in Corktown, is just a short distance from the city’s major sports stadiums. Naturally, Tigers games have become a great excuse for the team to get together, often followed by dinner or drinks on a downtown patio.
And DMC’s enthusiasm for sports isn’t limited to baseball. Earlier this year, the Seattle team cheered on their professional women’s hockey team, the Seattle Torrent, while the St. Louis office caught a Blues game.
This summer, DMC employees also traveled to see World Cup matches, with some team members traveling all the way across the country to witness a game in person. Whether we’re watching together in the office, cheering from the stands, or connecting virtually over a big game, sports have become one of the many ways DMC team members build relationships beyond our day-to-day work.
So, Whose Baseball Team Is Still in the Running?
Chicago’s teams may be out of the running for the Commissioner’s Trophy, but DMC isn’t done with postseason baseball just yet. DMC’s Tampa Bay office will undoubtedly be following the Rays as they take on the Milwaukee Brewers in the final stretch of the World Series. And even as baseball season wraps up, there are plenty of sports outings to come this winter with more opportunities to connect outside of the office.
