DMC Gets in Gear for Company Bike Ride

Lately at DMC, we’ve been on a mission to be a healthier, less-stressed company. With weekly yoga, stretching and meditation classes as well as de-stress walks, we’re well on our way.

So, when Ken Brey suggested a company bike ride along the Lake Shore path, we had more than one reason to acquiesce. In addition to mental health, here at DMC we enjoy a challenge above all else.

Our bike ride totaled 20 miles, starting at our Chicago office on Elston Avenue and riding south toward Northerly Island. We had a range of riders, from the mega-experienced like Ken, to the triathlon riders like Jesse, and then the less competitive commuter bikers. Even with the range of experience, Ken made a great leader and kept the group to together for nearly the entire trip.

We rode past the Lincoln Park Zoo, Navy Pier, Grant Park, Garfield Park Conservatory and a host of other beautiful gems tucked away beyond the steel fixtures that inhabit much of Chicago’s landscape. We ended at the edge of a pier with the beauty of Chicago’s natural and man-made wonders surrounding us. We then headed back north toward the office to round out the night with dinner and drinks at Cortland’s Garage.

Though the distance sounded intimidating to some at first, we all agreed that we could’ve gone further, and in fact wanted to go further on our next DMC bike ride.
