For my DMC welcome party, I joined in with two other employees, Molly and Kevin, to hold a shared celebration at a local bar's trivia competition. It should come as no surprise that a lot of us are trivia fiends given DMC's Core Values of hiring smart people and having fun! While some DMC employees had attended the bar's Monday trivia nights in the past as activity fund events, this was the first time we had the entire back room to ourselves.

With a ton of beer pitchers and dinner (including fried mac n' cheese bites), we felt totally in the zone and ready to dominate the competition. The entire place was packed with people joining in for trivia, though the bar was surprisingly quiet as people whispered to keep their answers secret. The questions covered a broad range of topics including sports, history, and pop culture. Even we found ourselves stumped by some of the questions! Who was Miss America in 1984 and lost her crown? Obviously Daenerys Targaryen!

At the end of the game, one of our teams (Thick Whiskey) came in first place overall with a score of 16. Within our group, Team Hi-5, Clutch Turkey, and Dumbledore Dies tied for second place with a respectable 13 points each, while my team (Team Snail) earned 10 points. We brought a big bag full of fun prizes with us as an extra incentive to people who had already been to trivia nights in the past. Winners among the DMC pool had their pick of brain games and Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty (which is essentially silly putty with some very cool properties). We also had a whole host of bacon-themed consolation prizes, including bacon-flavored toothpaste.

Even though my team didn't win, I had a great time with my new coworkers! It was such a blast to play with people I don’t normally work with and talk to every day. Being among the newest members of the DMC team, it was also a great way for me to get to know a few more people in a fun way!
