The Complete Chicago Experience at Wrigley Field

The Complete Chicago Experience at Wrigley Field

Before I began working at DMC, the team gave me a pretty good picture of the company culture. I saw them at the career fair, I visited the website, and I read almost everyone’s employee bios. What I didn't realize is that my expectations were about to be surpassed.

All new hires start off work for three weeks in Chicago. I am from Houston, TX, and this was my first time visiting Chicago. During my first week in the office, I felt very welcomed. Everyone was there to help me if I needed it.

A Wrigley Field Welcome

It was a surprise to find out that every employee gets a welcome party! Not only do we get a welcome party, but we choose what to do. The new hires invite everyone in the office, and everyone can bring a plus one. Talk about making someone feel welcomed when 50+ people come to your party during the first week of work!

There were a couple of things that I knew I wanted to do while in Chicago. The list was short but straightforward: try a Chicago style hotdog, a deep-dish pizza, attend a Cubs game, see a production of Hamilton, visit the Bean, and visit Lake Michigan. This list was, by all accounts, a pretty basic agenda of Chicago activities, but for me, they were a must.

I started at DMC at the same time as Matt, Jack, and Andy, so we chose to combine our welcome parties into one mega party and see a Cubs game. The score turned out unfavorable, with the Chicago Cubs losing 11-4 to the Oakland A’s.

Top Dog

The score of the game was the least of my concerns. I was looking for the whole experience, getting to eat a Chicago style hotdog, at Wrigley Field, while watching a Cubs game.

If I am honest with myself, I wanted that Chicago dog more than anything else. It's always fun enjoying a classic American staple. I don’t think that it can get any more “Chicago” then that night. Sitting in Wrigley field, looking at the original architecture, and enjoying everyone’s company was indeed a blast.

We were having so much fun; I didn’t even notice that the game had ended. Typically, I might get bored halfway through a baseball game. This is especially true when the team you're rooting for is destined to lose. But time flies when you are having fun! At the end of the game, I felt welcomed by everyone at DMC and excited to start this new chapter in my life!
