DMSki 2017: Adventures on the Slopes

DMSki 2017: Adventures on the Slopes

DMSki, an annual ski trip that DMCers have been making to Colorado since 2011, was Denver’s Yearly Office Event (YOE) again this year. The YOE is an opportunity for DMC employees to meet near one of DMC's five locations for a fun trip planned by employees in that office. What started as an awesome time has grown into an even more awesome time with more and more DMC employees joining each year! If you want to check out the fun we had in years past, you can read about past DMSkis from 2016, 2015, and 2013

DMSki 2017 was on-trend to increase the awesomeness again this year with our largest turnout yet. Thirty-six skiers total came from each of our five offices to do some sick shredding down the powdery slopes.

The event began with a now customary trip to Costco, where we picked up tasty snacks to take skiing and ingredients for group meals for breakfast and dinner. Once the cars were loaded up, we caravanned our haul to the little town of Silverthorne, Colorado to get settled in before our first day zooming down the mountain.

A big group went to Keystone on the first day. Look at those smiling faces!

Codenames proved to be a very popular game to play when we were all back at the lodge that evening. Lots of us cozied up around the fire to play before and after dinner while we played old country songs on the jukebox. Others attempted a game or two of cutthroat on the comically unlevel pool table. Accounting for the hop the ball might take was half the fun.

While the games were being played, the very serious business of dinner was happening. Per some fantastic online advice,   Emily flattened the chicken for dinner one night with a wine bottle we made quick work of when we couldn't find a mallet.

Many of us spent the second day in Vail. It was a beautiful day and the resort was enormous.

One night for dinner, we made more spaghetti and meat sauce than anyone could eat. Some DMC Boston employees had a great idea the next day and took it to the slopes for a high protein snack.

Day three was the most fun for me. By then Cecilia and I (both first-time snowboarders) had almost got the hang of it. We had a lot of fun falling down the slopes!

Other DMCers went snowshoeing and hiking!

Though every trip must come to an end, a few of us fit in one last hike around Red Rocks before heading to the airport. Lyndon even showed off his bouldering skills.

Thanks for the fun times, Denver, and see you next year!
