DMC Lives it Up at Day of the Dead Masquerade Ball

On November 4, 2017, employees of DMC and their guests attended the annual Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) masquerade ball the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago's Pilsen Neighborhood.

This year's theme was "Love Never Dies."

The Mexican holiday of Day of the Dead focuses on bringing family and friends together to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey.

The ball, which is the culmination of this holiday at the museum, features DJ's, a live Mariachi band, raffle prizes, and artists who will paint your face in distinctive Dia de los Muertos makeup!

In addition to performing a wide selection of traditional songs, the band led the crowd in activities such as a limbo competition and a Snake Dance.

The ball also serves traditional Mexican foods and drinks (including Pan de los Muertos - a mildly sweet bread prepared for this holiday, as well as tacos, mole, and other Mexican classics) catered by a few of the many Mexican restaurants in the city of Chicago.

The tickets included admission to many of the museum's exhibits which highlight their ongoing exhibitions focused on Mexican heritage and the contributions of Mexican Americans in our society as well, including the museum's annual exhibition of Offrendas, which are decorative altars to those who have passed on.

The money raised at this event goes on to fund other events and exhibitions at this amazing museum, including their annual Gala de Arte, their ever-changing series of both ancient and contemporary Mexican and Mexican-American artists, as well as to support their outreach to the Pilsen community.

The vibrant colors and imagery of the artwork helped show what the festival is about.
