DMC has been attending the annual Control Systems Integrators Association (CSIA) Executive Conference for over a decade. It's a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow integrators from around the world and share best practices. This year, CSIA set a record of around 600 attendees to the conference! DMC was proud to be part of the record-breaking event by leading two presentations.
The 2018 CSIA Executive Conference took place at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco. We had a fantastic setting near the bay, and some of us enjoyed an early morning 5K along the Embarcadero. The views of the water and AT&T Park offered an energizing start to the day.

As the co-chair of CSIA's Marketing Committee, I helped conduct a survey at the conference asking users about the navigation and usability of the CSIA website. If you have any thoughts about how the site can be improved, please drop me a line. I also hosted a meetup of Marketing Committee members along with co-chair Georgia Whalen of Rivergate Marketing. It's always great to catch up in person after meeting virtually throughout year!

Making Business Practices the Backbone of Your Company
DMC passed the CSIA audit just last month, getting certified for the fourth time. Rick Rietz, DMC's Director of Consulting Services, gave a timely presentation on how establishing business practices can impact your company and drive your CSIA Certification audit process. Rick shared how to setup an effective business practice structure using SharePoint (Office 365 or on-premises) that’s easy to maintain and use. He was joined by Jim Bercik of MR Systems, who described how implementing SharePoint has drastically improved their CSAI audit preparation and business processes.

Career Development Plans as a Competitive Advantage
DMC's President, Frank Riordan, took the stage next to share insights on providing career development opportunities within your organization. He illustrated how offering employees the opportunity to reach their potential can benefit both your employees and your company. As a follow-up to his previous CSIA presentation on best practices for hiring engineers and developing company culture, Frank shared DMC's Career Development Improvement Plan, which was developed internally with employees at every level.
