What is a "National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Architect" ?

What is a "National Instruments Certified LabVIEW Architect" ?

... and why should I care if my LabVIEW integrator is properly certified?

In most cases, the reason you are considering partnering with DMC to complete a LabVIEW project is because you don't have in-house personnel proficient in LabVIEW development. If that's true, then you probably don't have anyone who can help you decide if the integrator you are about to outsource to is proficient either. Of course you could take our word for it, but why not go to an unbiased source.

What is the National Instruments LabVIEW Certification Program?

The National Instruments (NI) LabVIEW Certification program is a highly credible, and unbiased, way for you to identify the right partner for your LabVIEW development needs. NI certification programs exist to identify organizations and professionals who have demonstrated a high level of skill and knowledge working with the products required to get your job done right.

NI offers multiple certification designations to help determine different levels of LabVIEW expertise. The Certified Associate Developer, Certified Developer, and Certified Architect designations represent basic, advanced, and expert knowledge in using NI LabVIEW for test and measurement applications.

What Does 'LabVIEW Architect' Mean?

According to the National Instrument's website, a LabVIEW Certification level of "Architect" signifies that an individual has demonstrated:

"mastery of the technical aspects of the product and the ability to implement the most efficient solution in a team environment. The Certified Architect designation, the highest level of certification available from NI, signifies the ability to lead complex projects from conception through completion."

Achieving "Certified LabVIEW Architect" designation is the final step in the three-part NI LabVIEW certification process. The first step is passing the Certified Associate LabVIEW Developer exam; the second, passing the Certified LabVIEW Developer exam. The third and final step is passing a very involved, 4 hour practical exam administered by directly by NI representatives. The exam presents a set of high-level test requirements and validates the user’s ability to build a sensible software hierarchy and project plan for delivering an application that fulfills those requirements.

What Does Having a Certified LabVIEW Architect on the Project Mean for You?

Having Certified Architects on the DMC engineering staff provides technical leadership and guidance to ensure that all our developers are following best practices, and Certified Architects can design the application architecture and manage the development of the individual components by other engineers.

At DMC we believe you should not have to just take our word on it, so we use NI certifications to validate our expertise and differentiate our skills when we bid for your project. We think of NI LabVIEW certification as a strategic investment that benefits our Clients with increased productivity, demonstrated project management skills, reduced risk of project failure or delay, and an overall competitive advantage in providing robust applications on-time.
