Electric Vehicle Batteries - Jesse Batsche and Steven Dusing

The mainstream introduction of the electric car created an entire new category of automotive testing for battery packs and battery management systems (BMS). DMC’s modular Battery Test Platform incorporates open software and hardware technologies, along with flexible and reliable subsystem components and instruments, in order to create systems that are completely customizable to the end user’s specifications.

The heart of the system is the modular software framework, termed the “Flex Framework,” which has evolved over more than a decade of development and lessons learned.  It serves as the foundation for all of DMC’s custom battery test projects and offers a variety of useful features, including self-diagnostic checks, configurable UI dashboards, and test sequence scripting.

Flexible Automation Assembly Platform - David Berno

automotive automationAdvanced automotive manufacturing of the 21st century requires the ability to commission automated assembly lines efficiently and to adapt to manufacturing changes with agility. This presentation will dive into solutions that DMC developed using the Siemens S7 series PLCs to create efficient and agile manufacturing deployments.

Our customer required a solution that allowed end-users to change assembly sequences in the field without programmers. DMC worked with them to develop standard code modules for handling basic manufacturing operations and a framework that allows them to dynamically create sequences to guide each portion of their process.

The result is a flexible manufacturing software system that has been deployed as a standard at various plants and gives our customers complete control over their process and the ability to react quickly to manufacturing changes.
